What Is A Eyebrow Lift?

A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, is a cosmetic surgery procedure that addresses aging in the upper face, including the brows and forehead. With a brow lift, patients can significantly rejuvenate their appearance by addressing deep lines, wrinkles, and sagging around the eyebrows. The brow lift can be performed alone or can be combined with another surgical procedure like a facelift or eyelid surgery to achieve a younger appearance.

Who Are Good Candidates For Eyebrow Lift Surgery?

A brow lift is a great procedure for those who have begun to experience facial sagging with age. Sagging occurs in the upper face due to gravity, repeated facial expressions, and a loss of collagen in the skin.

Both men and women choose the brow lift when they want to significantly improve the appearance of their upper face by targeting:

  •         Low or sagging brows causing a tired or angry appearance

  •         Hidden eyes due to excess tissue from the brows

  •         Deep creases in the forehead

  •         Impaired Vision From excess eyelid tissue

Good candidates for the brow lift should be ready for a surgical procedure with some recovery and downtime. If you aren’t quite ready for surgery, you may choose a less invasive option instead, like Botox. While the brow lift can effectively address the eyebrows and forehead, it will not eliminate sagging from the eyelids. This may be improved by adding a blepharoplasty to the procedure.

Benefits Of A Eyebrow Surgery:

A brow lift procedure can correct several common signs of aging in the brow area. Specifically brow lifts can:

  • Reduce furrows and other signs of aging in the forehead and brow areas, creating a softer, relaxed and rejuvenated facial appearance.

  • Minimize the creases that develop across the forehead, or those that occur high on the bridge of the nose, between the eyes.

  • Improve what are commonly referred to as “frown lines”, the vertical creases that develop between the eyebrows.

  • Reposition a low or sagging brow that is hooding the upper eyelid.

  • Raise the eyebrows to a more alert and youthful position.

Recovery After Eyebrow Lift Surgery:

After a brow lift, incisions are taped and a light dressing is applied. This should be left on for one week to protect the incision sites. For several days following the procedure, some swelling, bruising, and general discomfort can be expected. After one week, makeup can be applied to conceal any lingering side effects. It is important to take the necessary time off work to properly rest and recover.
